A New Book By Kamran Sultan
“Who am I?” was never the right question.
From Awakened to Awakener
Conversations That Change You From Within
It is three in the morning. A message arrives, and it knows exactly where to cut. You type a reply. You delete it. You type another, longer and angrier, and delete that too. By dawn you have written eleven of them, and your chest feels as though someone sat on it all night.
And the old question comes back. Who am I, really?

— The Book
Adam’s journey. Kamran’s conversations.
From Awakened to Awakener follows Adam, a man with a steady job, a life that looks fine from the outside, and one question that will not leave him alone. His search takes him to a saint, to a small black book called The Shadow Man, and into a long series of conversations with Kamran Sultan.
Kamran has trained and coached people since 1997: more than 3,000 of them, across more than 37,000 hours. This book is what those years of listening taught him, told as one seeker’s journey.
— Inside the Book
Six scenes that stay with you
- A five-year-old girl understands in a moment what Adam missed in all his years of reading.
- The man whose tongue swelled with a bee sting every time he told a lie.
- A purple circle, and what happens to an old hurt when you stand behind it.
- The clever uncle, the wise grandmother, and the moment at a wedding Adam misread for years.
- Why a river stays sweet while the Dead Sea stays dead, and which one your learning resembles.
- At the end of every chapter, one question meant only for you.
— Who This Is For
A quiet test. Read it slowly.
This book is for you if you look fine on the outside and feel lost on the inside. If you carry a hurt you never chose. If you keep reading and still feel you have not arrived. If you want to change, and want to understand what has held you back.
It is for readers of any faith who are willing to sit with a hard question.
It is not for you if you want a quick formula. Adam asked for one too.

Questions
Before you begin
Is this a religious book?
It draws on the Qur’an and hadith, with every source listed at the back. The lessons are about how people think and behave.
Kamran is not a religious scholar, and says so plainly in the preface. For questions about the faith itself, he directs the reader to a qualified scholar.
Is this a novel?
It is a teaching story, a little of both novel and guide.
Adam is a composite of many real people. The conversations come from real sessions, with names and details changed.
Who is this for?
Anyone who feels a gap between who they are and who they want to be.
And anyone who helps others close that gap: coaches, teachers, parents.
What if I am not Muslim?
You are welcome.
The book uses Islamic references, and it is written for anyone who wants to understand themselves and change their life, whatever their faith.
Do I need to read it in order?
Yes. The chapters are arranged as a journey, and each one prepares you for the next.
Read slowly, and stop at the question at the end of each chapter. That is where the real conversation happens.
